ENHANCEMENTS TO THE ANNUAL REPORT Over the last two years the Annual Report Team (GCA, OR, OSP, and ORIS) has made a number of changes to the Annual Report; these changes included the elimination and/or consolidation of some schedules, as well as changes to the reporting methodology. HIGHLIGHTS AWARDS During Fiscal Year 2015, the University requested $4.326 billion and was awarded $1.302 billion in grants and contracts. FY 2015 awards originating from federal sources totaled $1.038 billion (80% of the $1.302 billion total) to support research, equipment, fellowships and training, special programs of instruction, and service programs that support our region and the nation. Federal funding appears to be volatile over the last few years. However, most of this volatility can be attributed to ARRA funding and federal sequestration. In FY 11 and FY 12, the University received $158M, and $7M in ARRA funds, respectively. The timing of the federal sequestration caused federal sponsors to delay funding awards until the end of the federal fiscal year 2013, which is the beginning of UW’s fiscal year 2014. This artificially decreased award levels in FY 13 and artificially increased award levels in FY14.
