Up to 200 Poundland stores could be closed, as the sale of the discount retailer enters a critical phase. The latest bids for the retailer, which has stores in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury, are expected early this week, as reported by Retail Gazette. Poundland has been for sale since March. A deal is expected to be finalised in time for parent company Pepco Group's full-year results in September. Pepco is set to report its half-year results on Thursday (May 22). The shortlist of bidders for Poundland includes turnaround investors Gordon Brothers, Hilco Capital – which lent money to Superdry - Endless and Modella Capital – the new owner WHSmith's high street business.
