"We don't have any plan to make group-wide massive job cuts. We will keep the number of executives the same as this year," a group spokesman said.Samsung, however, said it would maintain flexibility in managing its workforce, without explaining what that meant.This was a reversal of a statement made by Samsung's investor relations team chief Chu Woo-sik, who said at a technology forum in the United States that the Korean tech leader will cut its investment in key chip and flat-screen units.The plan comes after Japanese electronics giant Sony decided to axe jobs and slash costs by more than $1 billion, as it tries to tackle plunging profits in the wake of the global credit crunch.
