A Finite Element Based Design Optimization Tool for Large Synchronous Generators | Conference Publication | Xplore
The paper seeks the development of a design optimization tool package for turbogenerators based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). The package comprises of a FEM simulation software and a numerical computing program for secondary user-defined post-processing calculations. In this paper the Ansys Electronics Desktop is chosen as the FEM package due to its fast and precise solutions and scripting options, and MATLAB was our post-processing application. Since the package was supposed to be used as the electromagnetic design section of a multi-physics design tool for turbogenerators, it had to be as fast as possible. Some properties of synchronous generators, like machine's performance under sustained short circuit and full load conditions, are usually obtained from time consuming transient calculations. Such calculations can be replaced with single magneto-static simulations accompanied by some post-processing and parallel processing.

Design, Development, and Experimental Analysis of a Dual Receiver Integrated On-Board Resonant Charger for Main and Auxiliary Battery Charging in EV Applications | Conference Publication | Xplore
Towards optimizing the impact of Electric Vehicle (EV) in green mobility, it is imperative in addressing losses within the energy system of the EVs for enhancing performance. In this work, a multilayered integrated Dual Receiver magnetic coupler-based charging solution is proposed, aimed at enhancing the system integration and convenience of the battery charging system as well as reducing energy losses in EV. An On-Board Charger (OBC) is designed and developed by integrating a DC-DC Converter, Wireless Power Transfer (WPT), and an Auxiliary Power Module (APM) with Zero misalignment detection. The system is initially designed and simulated in ANSYS Maxwell and further evaluated in ANSYS Simplorer. Further, the hardware of the system for 3.3 kW is fabricated and experimented in a laboratory setup. The experimental results agree with the simulation results. The system delivered an overall efficiency of 88%.

An all-in-one nanoprinting approach for the synthesis of a nanofilm library for unclonable anti-counterfeiting applications | Nanotechnology
In addition to causing trillion-dollar economic losses every year, counterfeiting threatens human health, social equity and national security. Current materials for anti-counterfeiting labelling typically contain toxic inorganic quantum dots and the techniques to produce unclonable patterns require tedious fabrication or complex readout methods. Here we present a nanoprinting-assisted flash synthesis approach that generates fluorescent nanofilms with physical unclonable function micropatterns in milliseconds. This all-in-one approach yields quenching-resistant carbon dots in solid films, directly from simple monosaccharides. Moreover, we establish a nanofilm library comprising 1,920 experiments, offering conditions for various optical properties and microstructures. We produce 100 individual physical unclonable function patterns exhibiting near-ideal bit uniformity (0.492 ± 0.018), high uniqueness (0.498 ± 0.021) and excellent reliability (>93%).
