Littelfuse to revamp via consolidation, job cuts -
TEL AVIV (MarketWatch) -- Litttelfuse Inc., the Chicago provider of circuit-protection products and solutions, said it would take a number of efficiency measures and book pretax charges of $5 million to $8 million over several quarters. Littelfuse expects to save $7 million a year from the restructuring. The company plans to transfer manufacturing from its Duensen, Germany, site to Mexico, while leaving R&D, sales and other functions in Germany. It will negotiate that transfer with the workers council in Germany. In addition, it will negotiate closure of a distribution center in the Netherlands; thereafter, Littelfuse said it would distribute products in Europe through a third party. The company said it would consolidate a wafer-fabrication facility in Taiwan into Wuxi, China. And it plans other consolidations and job cuts.
