Innovative Styrian solution for recycling from steel work dust
When producing a ton of steel, up to 40 kilograms of dusts are incurred. They contain numerous metals, including chrome, nickel and zinc. However, dealing with the dust is very difficult, a deposit is problematic and more expensive. A new concept for sustainable metal recovery from dusts of the stainless steel industry was presented on Tuesday by the technology group Andritz in Graz. It was developed with the Montanuni Leoben and the Voestalpine.

OMV started Austria's largest hydrogen electrolyser |
The OMV has put Austria's largest hydrogen production facility into operation in the Schwechat refinery, as the oil company announced on Wednesday. The new polymer electrolyt membrane electrolyser (PEM) has a capacity of 10 megawatts (MW) and is almost twice as large as the largest electrolyser so far, that of the steel group Voestalpine in Linz. The OMV invested around 25 million euros in the facility, which is to save 15,000 tons of CO2 annually.
