IN BRIEF: Vinci-led consortium wins La Chatiere river link contract
Vinci SA - Nanterre, France-based construction and concessions company - Consortium comprised of Vinci Construction subsidiary Terelian and Belgian construction firm DEME wins EUR183 million contract from to build the La Chatiere river link from Haropa Port to Port 2000 in Le Havre, Normandy. Terelian is serving as lead contractor with a 62% stake in the project. The remaining 38% will be held by DEME, of which Vinci owns 12.1%. Under the contract, the companies will build a 1,800-metre river channel protected by an embankment, connecting Port 2000 and the Seine river basin. "Direct river access to the port will lower carbon emissions in logistics chains, enhance safety and increase the number of containers travelling by river," Vinci says. Under the preliminary phase, the firms will clear unexploded ordnances and enlist Vinci Construction subsidiaries Ocelian to conduct maritime works. Subsidiaries Navarra TS and Cardem Pyro will conduct soil remediation.
